EMDR: 21st Century Treatment Approach Within the context of EAP

Trauma has become the way of life for the 21st century. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an interactional, standardized approach that accelerates treatment of a wide range of pathologies and self esteem issues. EMDR provides the opportunity for both the client and the counsellor to be and feel successful. EMDR accelerates the adaptive processing of information and speeds up treatment significantly.

There are more controlled studies on EMDR than on any other method used in the treatment of trauma. Over 50,000 therapists in over fifty countries have been trained.

This presentation will review the research and controversies concerning EMDR. Case examples and demonstrations to illustrate the EMDR approach to trauma will be presented. Particular emphasis will be placed on how to implement EMDR in a time limited treatment format. Participants will learn the principles involved in EMDR and be introduced to the Basic Protocol and the applications for anxiety, PTSD, pain, addictions and peak performance.
