Clients with Sexual Addiction: Deeply Wounded, Lonely and Ashamed
This is a silent addiction, as EAP counsellors may not even hear the hints clients are giving about their suffering. What do you do when a client mentions sex addiction or describes the devastating consequences of multiple affairs, debt, or lost homes? Shame and the absolute necessity of safety in the therapeutic relationship will be discussed. In this interactive workshop, assessment, case examples, and resource information will be provided. Attachment issues, dissociation and the treatment plan will also be examined, along with the role of the EAP provider.
Presenter: Carol Siebert, RCC
In her 23 years of private practice, Carol has worked 17 of these with clients who struggle with sex addiction. She is certified as an EMDR Therapist, has a diploma as a Gestalt Therapist, Level I and II Training with the Gottman Institute, and is trained to do Strategic Developmental Psychotherapy. With years of training and experience in this area, approximately 40% of Carol's clients are living with sexual addiction. She sees sexually addicted individuals, their partners and provides couples counselling. Carol also has experience as a trainer and group facilitator.
